The short version

What the regulations say, in six points. The PDF and the tournament regulations are binding.

  • Scoring

Best of three games to 21, rally scoring, win by two, hard cap at 30. A match is won by the side that takes two games.

  • Draws and seeding

Seeds come from the current ranking list for that discipline and age group. Draws are made publicly and published at least 48 hours before the first match.

  • Eligibility

Age groups are counted by year of birth for the whole season. Amateur grades A–D are self-declared and may be corrected by the referee after one tournament.

  • Conduct

Non-marking shoes only. Coaching is allowed between rallies and at the interval. Abuse of officials, opponents or equipment is a straight disqualification.

  • Withdrawals

Withdraw before the entry deadline for a full refund, and before the draw for a 50% refund. After the draw the fee is retained, except on a medical certificate.

  • Shuttles

Feather shuttles for national and international events, nylon for amateur and junior grades. The organizer supplies match shuttles from the quarter-finals onwards.

Tournament regulations

Every tournament publishes its own regulations with a version history. Entrants accept the version in force when they enter.
